SCHS Indians, Lady Indians fall to Hart County in Basketball on Wednesday

The Hart County Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs both earned their third region basketball win Wednesday evening at the Currahee Arena, while the Stephens County boy’s and girl’s teams dropped their third region loss of the season.

In the girl’s game Dakota Phillips led Hart County with 16 points as they defeated the Stephens County Lady Indians 45-30.  Only four Lady Indians scored in the game.  My’Lazia Pope had 11 points, followed by My’Angel Carter with nine, Makiya Knox had six points and Kiara Lopez had one point.

The Lady Indians are now 1-17 on the season.

The Stephens County boys and Hart County boys swapped leads in the fourth quarter, but in the end, Hart County prevailed 64-59.

Johnny “J.C.” Curry scored 17 points in the second half and ended up with 27 points for the Dogs.  Tahj Johnson had 15 points and Sean Teasley chipped in with 13.

Tyrece Mackie led the Indians in scoring with 19 points while Corey Riche had 12.  The boys record is now 3-15 and 0-3 in Region 8-AAA.

Weather permitting, the Indians and Lady Indian’s next game is set for Friday evening at 7PM at the Currahee Arena.  Air time on WNEG Radio will be 6:45PM.
