SCHS Indians, Lady Indians compete at State Track Meet
The Stephens County Indian boys sent 5 athletes to the State Track Meet in Albany last weekend, and they tied the school record for points scored at a state meet. All 5 are seniors.
Braden Griffin finished as the Runner-Up in the 400 meters with a school record time of 49.01. Griffin also finished 4th in the 200 meters.
Aaron Maxwell finished 7th in the shot put; Corey Richie finished 8th in the Triple Jump; Sam Guest finished 11th in pole vault; and Bobby Fessler finished 12th in the 3200 meters.
Coach Gordon Thigpen said he was extremely proud that these 5 seniors ended their high school career on a good note.
The Lady Indians sent 5 athletes to compete at the State Track Meet.
In the girls 4 by 200 relay, the team of My’Angel Carter, A’Nya Dupree, Hallee Shirley, and Riley Walker finished 14th but they set a school record of 1 min 47.6 seconds.
The 4 by 100 relay team of My’Angel Carter, A’Nya Dupree, Hallee Shirley, and Calista Curtis finished 13th. Four of the five girls were underclassmen, and Coach Thigpen said he is excited to see what the future holds for these athletes.
