SCHS Indians hosting first round state AAA playoffs

The Stephens County Indians will play in the first round of the state AAA playoffs as they host the Wesleyan Wolves.

The game will be played Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 4 o’clock.

Wesleyan is the number 4 team from Region 7-AAA with a record of 4 & 6.

They ended the regular season with a loss at Pickens County last Friday, 20 to 13.  Stephens County is the Region 8-AAA champ and gets to host the first round.

The Indians have an overall record of 8 & 2 after losing a close game to Hebron Christian last Friday night, 25 to 21.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s Offensive Coordinator, Jerry Underwood, said Wesleyan has a lot of height and is a team that plays hard.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon with the Indian Tailgate Show live from The Reservation.  Coach’s Corner starts at 3:30 p.m. and pre-game coverage from the stadium starts at 3:45 p.m.

The other Region 8-AAA teams in the playoffs that will play Saturday are:  Oconee County at Lumpkin County, Monroe Area at Dawson County, and Hebron Christian will host Pickens County.

Other area teams playing tonight in the 1st round of state playoffs:  Madison County travels to Central of Carrollton, East Jackson is on the road at Rockmart, Rabun County will host Dade County, and Commerce is on the road at Trion.
