SCHS Indians headed to the first round of state AAA playoffs tonight

The Stephens County Indians will play in the first round of the state AAA playoffs tonight as they travel to Rockmart to play the Yellow Jackets.

Kickoff will be at 7:30. Rockmart is the Region 6-AAA champs with a record of 9 & 1.

Stephens County is the number 4 seeded team from Region 8-AAA.  The Indians have an overall record of 7 & 3 and return to the state playoffs after missing the last 2 years.

Stephens County and Rockmart have never met on the football field.  Stephens County clinched a playoff berth last Friday night with a 24 to 0 win over East Jackson.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s defensive line coach, Brad Whitfield, said his defense will try to stop the Rockmart wing-T offense and the Indians offense needs to grind out some first downs.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 6:30 p.m. with the Indian Road Show.

Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and pre-game coverage from the stadium starts at 7:15 p.m.
