SCHS Indians Football team heading to the second round of the state AAA Playoffs tonight

The Stephens County Indians will play in the second round of the state AAA playoffs tonight as they host the Sandy Creek Patriots.

Kickoff tonight will be at 7:30.

Sandy Creek is the number 2 team from Region 5-AAA with a record of 9 & 2.

They advanced in the playoffs last Saturday with a first-round lop-sided win over Coahulla Creek, 70 to 14.

Stephens County is the Region 8-AAA champ and won their first-round game last Saturday with a win over Wesleyan, 51 to 14.

The Indians have the same overall record as Sandy Creek at 9 & 2.  This is the first time Stephens County and Sandy Creek have met on the football field.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County’s wide receivers coach, Gordon Thigpen, said that the players and coaches are excited to play in second round of the state playoffs against a tough opponent.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 5:30 with the Indian Tailgate Show live from The Reservation, followed by Coach’s Corner at 7 and pre-game at 7:15.

The other 3 games involving Region 8-AAA teams being played tonight in the second round are:  Oconee County at Adairsville, Monroe Area at Carver of Atlanta, and Hebron Christian at Cedar Grove.

Other area teams playing tonight in the 2nd round of the state playoffs:  Rabun County will host Social Circle, and Elbert County will play at Prince Avenue, and Gainesville will host South Paulding.
