Stephens County High School held its annual Football Awards Ceremony Monday night.  Each player on the varsity and J-V teams was recognized. All of the seniors and those players named All-Region received plaques.

Special recognition was also given to those who were named All-State by the A-J-C or Recruit Georgia. Stephens County had 3 players named to both teams. Defensive back Jasec Smith and defensive lineman Aidan Butts made 1st team, and running back Javin Gordon was named Honorable Mention.

WNEG presented our Player of the Year Award to senior Aidan Butts, who led the team in tackles for loss from his defensive end position. He also played tight end and special teams.

Senior linebacker Dawson Childs won the Trigger Thomason “Strive and Drive” Award.

The Keaton Thompson “Effort-Attitude-Toughness” Award was presented to Aidan Butts.

Head Coach Wesley Tankersley was presented with a commemorative football in recognition of his 100th career victory, which occurred September 15th when the Indian defeated White County.

After the Awards Ceremony, Coach Tankersley said the evening is set aside to make sure they honor the players, especially the seniors who have worked so hard:

The Indians finished the season with a record of 10-2, Region Champs for the second consecutive year, and reaching the second round of the state playoffs for the third consecutive year.
