SCHD hosting drive-thru flu clinic today

The Stephens County Health Department will hold a drive-thru flu clinic today at the Stephens County Health Department from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Health Department is located at 64 Boulevard, Suite 102, in Toccoa.

This year, the quadrivalent vaccine (four-in-one) will serve as the regular flu vaccine and will protect against four different strains of flu, both A and B strains of the influenza viruses. The high-dose vaccine, which is also a quadrivalent vaccine, will be available for people 65 and older.

The flu vaccines are free to anyone who has Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurances. If you are self-pay, the flu shot is $30.

Again, the Stephens County Health Department’s drive-thru flu clinic is today, from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stephens County Health Department.

For Stephens County Seniors, if you’re unable to attend today’s flu clinic at the Stephens County Health Department, you’ll have another opportunity next week at Ninth District Opportunity.

The Ninth District Opportunity Office in Toccoa is partnering with Walgreens on Thursday, November 11 to administer Flu Shots to the seniors in Stephens County who have not been vaccinated this year.

Ninth District Opportunity’s Community Resource Coordinator Paula Duley says they will have a pharmacist and technician at the office from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. to administer the flu shots.
