SCH restricts visitation for hospital and all associated clinical locations

Stephens County Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester has announced that the hospital has implemented measures to protect patients and visitors from potential exposure to the Coronavirus.

On Saturday, Hester issued a press release, issuing an immediate change to the visitation policy at the Stephens County Hospital and all associated clinical locations.

Stephens County Hospital will limit patient visitors to one immediate family member in all patient areas, including labor and delivery.

No visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed.

Visitors will be restricted if exhibiting any flu-like or respiratory signs and symptoms.

Hester adds that any family member or visitor with a history of travel to mainland China, South Korea, Iran, Italy or other area outlined by the CDC within the last 30 days is not allowed to enter the hospital.

Stephens County Hospital has issued an additional public notice for patient visitors at the hospital as well as an alteration to visiting hours at the Clary and Wilkinson Center.

The Stephens County Hospital will be closing the cafeteria to the general public until further notice beginning on Sunday, March 15.

Hospital staff at the Clary and Wilkinson centers are asking that only immediate family visit.

Upon arriving at the Homes, you will need to use the front entrance at both homes.

Staff will be onsite doing a general screening on everyone before proceeding to the resident area.

Visitation hours will now be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

If you need to visit outside of this window, please contact the office for assistance by calling 706-282-5600.

Hospital staff released the following statement: “Should this virus become an increased threat, please be aware that it may be necessary to implement further visiting restrictions.”

The Stephens County Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary Masquerade Jewelry Sale that was scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, has been cancelled.
