SCH receives first shipment of COVID-19 Vaccine for employees

Stephens County Hospital has received its first shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines to distribute to its employees.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital is exceedingly fortunate that they have received a shipment large enough to ensure all their employees have access to receive the vaccine should they choose to do so.

He says this is a major step forward in the fight against COVID-19 and the arrival of the vaccine could not have come at a more appropriate time, bringing light at the end of this very dark year.

At this time, according to Hester, healthcare facilities are only able to distribute the vaccine to their staff while the health department and retail pharmacies CVS and Walgreens are charged with the initial phase of offering vaccines to other sections of the population.

He says, “We are hopeful to see the vaccine widely offered and look forward to eventually being able to offer the vaccine to community members as well. Stephens County Hospital has also placed orders for the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine and hope to receive this shipment within the coming days and weeks.”

Stephens County Hospital will continue to provide updates to the community, especially when they receive any information regarding when they may begin administering vaccines to the general public.
