SCH prepared for Coronavirus in Stephens County

The Stephens County Hospital has released information regarding its preparedness for the Coronavirus.

According to a press release issued on Monday, both Stephens County Hospital and Stephens County Hospital Physicians Group are prepared and equipped to treat citizens should the virus present itself in Toccoa-Stephens County.

According to Stephens County Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, the hospital has a dedicated position to infectious disease and his staff receives continuous updates about the Coronavirus from the Georgia Department of Public Health and the CDC.

Hester says the Coronavirus presents similar symptoms of a common cold and/or flu.

He says most individuals recover with supportive therapies such as fluid, rest, and over the counter fever reducers.

According to hospital staff the most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your family is to wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

If you are running a fever, it is advised you stay home to help prevent the spread of viruses.
