SCH names Hester new CEO

Stephens County Hospital has hired a new Chief Executive Officer.

According to members of the Stephens County Hospital Authority the announcement comes after Tuesday’s meeting where they voted unanimously to hire Michael Hester of Savannah, Georgia as the next CEO.

Hester was selected following two rounds of interviews with numerous candidates.

Hester issued a written statements saying quote, “My family and I are extremely excited about living and working in Toccoa. It is a beautiful community that we can’t wait to call home. I’m very grateful for this opportunity, and I would like to thank the Stephens County Board for selecting me to lead their organization.”

As CEO, Hester will be responsible and accountable for managing all administrative and health care activities for the hospital. He will provide overall leadership and direction for the staff, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare and supporting ongoing improvement efforts.

He will also work closely with and collaborate with other organizations to move forward with the strategic plan for the 2019 fiscal year.

Hester’s background includes over 15 years of healthcare experience in finance, operations and administration. He holds a bachelor of science from the University of Florida and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University.

He currently serves as the CEO of Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, GA.

Hester will join Stephens County Hospital in early April 2019.
