SCH continues to offer drive-up testing at is campus in Toccoa

Stephens County Hospital will again be offering drive-up testing for COVID-19 today on its campus in Toccoa.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, the drive-up testing site is open today from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

He says the testing site will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, each week from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The site is open to anyone who has a doctor’s order to be tested for COVID-19; but, if you do not have a doctor’s order, you will not be allowed to be tested at this location.

He says in order for the hospital to receive payment from the insurance companies, every patient must have a doctor’s order to be tested.

At this testing site, you will be asked to complete a registration and consent form. Please bring your ID and insurance cards.

Hester says Insurance companies have been instructed by the government to pay for COVID-19 testing at no cost to patients.

If you do not have insurance, Hester says, that is not a problem, the patient will not receive a bill.

According to Stephens County Hospital Vice President of Physician Practices Van Loskoski, some residents have asked why Stephens County Hospital requires a doctor’s order when Habersham County’s testing site did not.

Loskoski says the drive-through testing site in Habersham was run in collaboration with the Georgia Emergency Management Association, who supplied all of the test kits, and the Department of Public Health, who processed all of those labs. As such, GEMA and DPH absorbed all of the cost of testing.

Again, the hospital will be screening people today through its new drive-up testing site on the campus of Stephens County Hospital from 9:00 a.m. until 3 p.m.
