SCBOE to name Interim Superintendent on Thursday

The Stephens County Board of Education is aiming to name an Interim Superintendent at its next scheduled work session, on Thursday, August 12.

The Board of Education and Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham’s recent press release on Friday, August 6, announced the Board of Education decided to reassign Oldham to the position of Transitional Coordinator, after deciding to move in a different direction.

That direction; however, has not been explained.

Until the Board of Education names an Interim Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Matt Thompson will assume the responsibilities of the Superintendent.

As WNEG News reported Friday evening, the Board of Education expresses its appreciation to Dr. Oldham for his leadership and contributions to the school district during his service as superintendent.

Dr. Oldham expresses his thanks and gratitude for the encouragement and most of all the support of the staff, parents, and community.

The Superintendent and all of the Board members are committed to a smooth and productive transition, continuing to address the needs of the school district and providing the best possible education for the students of Stephens County.

WNEG News will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
