SCBOE hires Dr. Franklin as School Superintendent

Dr. Constance Franklin is the new Superintendent of Stephens County Schools.

The decision was made on Tuesday during the Stephens County Board of Education’s Special Called Meeting.

Vice-Chair Rod Moore made a motion recommending Franklin for the position with Board Member Kay Reed seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.

Chairman Jim Bellamy explained that Franklin’s start date would be March 1, 2022.

Franklin says she’s eager to become a part of the community in Stephens County.

Franklin fills the position left vacant by former Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham who was reassigned from his duties as Superintendent in August after the Board of Education announced its plan to go in a different direction.

The Board of Education initially announced Franklin as the sole finalist for the position during its meeting on December 13.

State Law mandates the Board of Education hold a 14-day public comment period prior to taking official action.

Since the 14 days have passed, the Board of Education was able to take action and hire Franklin during its meeting last night.
