SCBOE: 2024-25 School Calendar Approved, Stovall Selected as 2024 Chair.

The Stephens County Board of Education, at last night’s regularly called meeting, approved the 2024-2025 School Calendar.

In a meeting report by school School and Community Engagement Director April James, she noted that the calendar includes a start date of Friday, August 2, and the last day of the 2024-2025 school year will be Wednesday, May 21, with graduation for the Class of 2025 on Friday, May 23.

Since the meeting was the first regular meeting of 2024, the Board voted on new leadership for the year, selecting Len Stovall as the new chair of the Board of Education and Travis Dobbs as the new vice chair. These are one-year terms, voted on by the school board annually.

The Stephens County School System also recognized the Spirit of Stephens employees of the month during last night’s Board meeting. The certified employee of the month is Chad Sorrells, a science teacher and coach at Stephens County Middle School.

Wanda Aderholdt, a bus driver for the transportation department, is the classified employee of the month.
