SCBOC Approves changes to Employee Handbook

Following approval of updates to the Stephens County Employment Handbook and policies, the Stephens County Government offices will be closed this coming Monday, Feb. 19 in honor of Presidents Day.

The holiday is one of two additional holidays that were approved for county employees when Board of Commission members voted unanimously to approve the updates to the handbook during the Board’s regular meeting earlier this week. Juneteenth is the second new holiday approved by commissioners. This brings the number of paid holidays for county employees to 13, adding the two new holidays to a list that includes New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and the following Friday, and Christmas day plus one additional day for Christmas.

County Administrator Christian Hamilton told WNEG News that the handbook had not been updated in 20 years, and said the changes were mainly housekeeping items

Marked passages of the Handbook indicating adopted changes are available in the meeting agenda packet, viewable here.
