SCBC will set 2021 Tax Millage Rate tonight

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will be meeting this evening for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. inside the Stephens County Historic Courthouse.

The majority of the meeting will be made up of 15 Land Use Public Hearings.

Up for consideration is a motion to approve the 2021 Tax Levy Resolution for Stephens County Government setting the millage rate at 14.76 mills.

Last year, Stephens County Government’s Tax Millage rate was set at 14.91 mills.

The Board will also consider a motion approving the 2021 Tax Levy Resolution recommended by the Stephens County Board of Education at 16.51 mills for the maintenance and operation of the public schools in Stephens County.

Last year, the Stephens County Board of Education recommended a millage rate of 16.67 mills.

If both tax levy resolutions are approved, Stephens County residents will not have a tax increase.

Additionally, the Board will consider motions reappointing Janice London to the Department of Family and Children Services Board for a Five-Year term, awarding a three-year financial audit contract to Mauldin and Jenkins in the amount of $96,000, awarding fencing for the Splash Pad to Blue Ridge Fence, Inc. in the amount of $17,959, and a resolution concerning reapportionment.

Again, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening, at 5:30 p.m. inside the Historic Courthouse.

The public is invited to attend.
