SCBC will meet tonight for Regular Scheduled meeting

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening for its regular scheduled meeting.

The meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. inside the Stephens County Historic Courthouse.

The meeting will start with the recognition of the student of the month; which is part of one of the initiatives started by Chairman James Addison.

Then, the Commission will hold four land use public hearings.

The first two are rezoning requests one from Zachary Garrett for the property located at 213 Currahee Ridge Road. The property is currently zones as agriculture residential; however, it is being proposed to rezone the property to residential single family.

The second rezoning request is from Denman McFarlin for the property located at 612 Bruce Road, in Martin. The property is currently zoned as agriculture intensive, but the proposed action is to rezone one acre to agriculture residential.

Then, the Commission will consider a conditional use request from Michael and Tonya Thomas, for the property located at 1117 Hwy 145, in Eastanollee, to have a home-based business located on the property.

The final land use hearing is for a variance request from Heidi and Jamie Beltran for the properties located at 133 and 109 Cardinal Lane, in Toccoa. The proposed action is to grant a variance for a shipping container to be used on a residential lot for storage.

Under new business, the Commission will consider Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Amendments for Clerk of Court, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, SPLOST VI and SPLOST VII and authorize chairman to sign resolution.

The commission will also consider a motion to approve appointment of Lynn Evans Cox and William Russell Wash to fill the Library Board vacancies for a three-year-term beginning on January 1, 2023.

Again, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. inside the Stephens County Historic Courthouse.
