SCBC will meet today

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet later today for its regular scheduled meeting and work session.

Today’s meeting will be conducted through teleconference.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can call in at 425-436-6345. After calling in you’ll be instructed to input the code 585174 to join the meeting.

Up for discussion includes a consideration to appoint a board member to the AVITA Community Partners Community Service Board.

The board will also consider the approval of budget amendments for Fiscal Year 2020 for the following departments: Emergency Communications, County Extension, Sheriff’s Office, Elections and Public Works.

Additionally, the board will hold three public hearings for land use.

The first is a rezoning request from Faye Adams to rezone the property located at 3712 Oak Valley Road from residential multi-family to residential single family.

The second request comes from Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin for the property located at GA-17 and Hayes Wilbanks Road, to be rezoned from agriculture residential to commercial industrial for manufacturing and industrial operations.

The last land use hearing is petitioned by Tim Martin, on behalf of property owner Gloria Hale, for the property located at Hayes Wilbanks Road at Historic GA-17 and Hayes Wilbanks Road at Defoor Road, currently zoned as agriculture residential to be rezoned to commercial industrial for manufacturing and industrial operations.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet at 5:30 p.m. today.
