SCBC will meet today for regular scheduled meeting

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this evening for its regular scheduled meeting.

As WNEG News previously reported, the County will no longer offer citizens a call-in option to attend the meetings virtually.

The Board will consider a motion to amend Chapter 10, Article II of the Animal Control Ordinance Section 10-52.

Recently the board approved an amended portion of this ordinance; however, Commissioner Debbie Whitlock asked County staff to clean up the language in the existing ordinance because she felt it was too loose.

In other business, the Commission will hold three land use public hearings.

The first is for a conditional use request from Nell Garland for the property located at 1220 Cawthon Road, in Toccoa. Garland is petitioning to be allowed to have an art and music festival for a virtual live stream and drive-in event with social distancing requirements on her property.

The second is a rezoning request from Judy Knapp for the property located at 848 Liberty Hill Road, in Toccoa. The proposed action to be taken is to rezone .46 acres from Residential Single to Agriculture Residential.

The last hearing is for a variance request from Mike Elrod for the property located a 149 Hardy Farms Point, in Martin. The proposed action to be taken is to grant a lot size variance of less than an acre for a residence.

The Commission will also consider a presentation of the proposed Fiscal Year 2022 Budget.

Again, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet today at 5:30 p.m. inside the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.

There is no longer an option to attend the meeting virtually.
