SCBC, TCC approve proclamations for Community-Wide Beautification and Clean-up month

The Toccoa City Commission along with the Stephens County Board of Commissioners have signed proclamations for a Community-Wide Beautification and Clean-up month.

As WNEG News previously reported, Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful Board Member Tim Hale came before both Commissions asking for them to consider the proclamation.

Hale explained that it’s important for both the City of Toccoa and the County to partner to clean up the county.

Last week, during the Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting the Commission approved the Proclamation; and on Monday, the Toccoa City Commission approved the Proclamation.

Hale says the Community-Wide Beautification and Clean-up month would be complete through a three-stage process.

Toccoa Commissioner Gail Fry says they will be reaching out to business owners and local residents to clean up their areas, along with promoting litter free living through the school system.

Fry says she and some city employees will be going out to find the top 10 or 12 most littered areas to clean up.

She says they’ll recruit teams to clean up those areas with financial incentives.

The city is asking anyone interested in forming a team to come to City Hall the week of April 18 through April 24.
