SCBC make annual appointments to various boards

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners met last week for its regular scheduled meeting; during which the Commission made several appointments.

The Commission reappointed Beth Rider as County Clerk, and reappointed the Law Offices of Sanders, Ranck and Skilling as County Attorney.

The Commission then made appointments for the commissioners to serve on various boards.

County Administrator Phyllis Ayers presented the list of boards for each commissioner.

Ayers explained that both Commissioner Debbie Whitlock and Vice-Chair Dennis Bell were out for either health or personal issues.

Chairman James Addison will serve on the Stephens County Development Authority Board, the Airport Authority, Chamber of Commerce, Joint Services, the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Board, the Chestatee-Chattahoochee RC&D Council, and the Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful board.

Whitlock will serve on the Health Board, Roads and Bridges, E911 Advisory Board, Joint Services, and Emergency Services.

Bell will serve on Roads and Bridges, Buildings and Grounds, E911 Advisory, Emergency Services, and Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful.

Commissioner Dean Scarborough will serve on Buildings and Grounds, and the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission.

Commissioner Michelle Ivester will serve on the Stephens County Soil and Water Conservation, and the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Board.

The Commission then appointed David Jahns as the Budget Officer for Fiscal Year 2023.

All appointments were approved 3-0.
