SCBC holds first reading and public hearing for proposed FY22 budget

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners held the first reading and public hearing for the proposed Fiscal Year 2022 budget at its meeting on Tuesday.

As WNEG News previously reported, the proposed budget was presented to the board by County Administrator Phyllis Ayers at the last meeting in May.

She says the budget does not include a millage rate increase for Stephens County residents.

During the public hearing portion of the meeting, no resident came forward to speak in favor of or in opposition to the proposed Fiscal Year 2022 Budget.

The Commission will hold the second reading and public hearing for the proposed budget at its next meeting on June 22 and is expected to adopt the proposed budget during that same meeting.

Fiscal Year 2022 will begin on July 1, 2021.
