SCBC expected to approve SPLOST VII Intergovernmental agreement this morning

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this morning to consider approving the SPLOST VII Intergovernmental agreement with the cities of Toccoa, Martin and Avalon.

The County had initially proposed a 70%/30% split of the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax after the revenue shares for the Towns of Martin and Avalon were taken out.

After weeks of back-and-forth negotiations,  Stephens County Commissioners accepted the City’s counter offer of a 68.25% County, 31.75% City split with no conditions.

If the County Commissioners approve the SPLOST VII Intergovernmental agreement today, then, they will also consider a motion to approve the SPLOST VII Resolution calling for an election on November 5.

The called meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. inside the Historic County Courthouse.

As always, the public is invited to attend.
