SCBC discuss letter to Governor asking for state parks to close

As WNEG News told you last week, a group of County Commission Chairmen from North Georgia penned a letter to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, asking him to close all state parks.

During the recent Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, the board formalized the initial agreement that was made last week authorizing Chairman Dennis Bell to sign the letter.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers the letter was penned by 13 county chairs.

Commissioner Debbie Whitlock asked the board about how people have been interacting at the state parks in our area.

Bell says the state parks in Northeast Georgia are still having problems with people not abiding by the Governor’s rules.

Ayers says parts of Stephens County were having a lot of issues with people coming into the county from other states.

The motion was approved unanimously.
