SCBC approves rezoning and variance requests during recent meeting

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners held two Land Use Public Hearings during its meeting on Tuesday.

The first hearing was for a rezoning request from James R. Taylor, for the property located on Ridgeland Road, in Eastanollee.

Taylor was requesting 3.29 acres to be rezoned from Residential Single to Agriculture Residential.

County Administrator Phyllis Ayers opened the public hearing adding that the Planning Commission has recommended approval.

The second hearing was a variance request from Ron Bunner for the property located at 178 Lakeside Trail, in Martin.

The petitioner was requesting the county approve a 24-foot setback variance on the front of the property.

Ayers said the Planning Commission has recommended approval.

No one came forward to speak in favor of or in opposition to either request.

A motion approving the rezoning request was made by Vice Chair Dennis Bell with Commissioner Dean Scarborough seconding the motion.

A motion approving the variance request was made by Bell with Commissioner Debbie Whitlock seconding the motion.

Both motions were approved unanimously.
