SCBC approves purchase of Animal Control Vehicle for Stephens County Marshal’s Office

The Stephens County Marshal’s Office is getting a new vehicle for Animal Control.

During last week’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, the board approved a motion to award Wade Ford the bid for a 2020 F-150 XL Police Responder in the amount of $37,470.96.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers the initial item to be considered by the board was a motion to award or deny pickup truck bids for code enforcement; however, the bids the county received were for vehicles that the county had not requested.

She says the Public Works Director was able to find the exact vehicle the county was originally hoping to get.

A motion to deny the bids for a pickup truck for code enforcement and to approve the purchase of the 2020 F-150 XL Police Responder was made by Commissioner Dennis Bell with Commissioner Dean Scarborough seconded the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
