SCBC approve the purchase of six new vehicles for SCSO

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners awarded bids for the purchase of six vehicles for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, during its meeting on Tuesday.

Stephens County Administrator Phyllis Ayers presented the bid item to the board.

The first bid was awarded to Mike Jones Ford for the purchase of three special service trucks in the amount of $33,115.40 per unit to be paid for using funds from Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI.

The second bid was awarded to Jacky Jones Ford for the purchase of three 2020 Dodge Chargers in the amount of $23,775 per unit to be paid for using funds from SPLOST VI.

According to Ayers, the trucks will be used by the Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

Commissioner Debbie Whitlock asked Ayers about the SUVs Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Investigators currently use.

Which Ayers explained that the Sheriff’s Office would still use the SUVs.

The commissioners voted and approved both purchases 3-0, with Commissioner Michelle Ivester and Commissioner Dennis Bell being absent.
