SCBC approve purchase of 4 new vehicles for SCSO

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday to award two bids for four new vehicles for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office.

The first bid was awarded to Mike Jones Ford in the amount of $36,109.14 for a Special Service Vehicle.

The second bid was awarded to Jacky Jones Ford for three patrol vehicles in the amount of $31,000 per vehicle.

Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Colonel Andy Myers explained to the board that several months prior, the board approved the purchase of other vehicles; however, since then, it has been confirmed that those vehicles are no longer available, and the original order has been canceled.

Myers says one of his goals for the Sheriff’s Office Fleet is to have continuity, with these new vehicles, he says the fleet shall achieve that goal.

The board unanimously approved both motions.
