SCBC approve motion for lease agreement to move remaining two offices out of old annex

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will be moving the last two offices currently in the old Government Annex Building to a new location.

During the recent Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board approved a motion to enter into a lease agreement with Terry Graham Development, LLC for property located at 150 West Tugalo Street for a one-year lease with the option to extend for one year.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, the lease agreement will allow the remaining two offices to be relocated from the old Government Annex Building.

“This will relocate the last two departments out of the old Annex which is Drug Accountability Court and CSRA Probation and that is going just straight out of the lane and is a perfect location for them,” she said.

She says once the two offices are relocated, the county will begin the process to deem the old Government Annex Building as surplus.

“Then we will complete the clean-out of the Annex and you already made a motion to declare that as surplus and put it up for sale. Also, I’ll reach out to CSRA about negotiating an increase in their rental payment to cover their side,” she said.

County Attorney Brian Ranck says he will need to replace one page of exhibit A to correct a typo.

Chairman James Addison asked when the move will take place?

“Is this going to happen right away,” Addison asked?

“Right away, as a matter of a fact, we’re meeting there today. And then we’ll start physically moving. This is very exciting. It takes a long time to get—people don’t realize that the entire county offices were in that one building,” Ayers said.

Vice-Chair Dennis Bell made a motion approving the lease agreement with Commissioner Michelle Ivester seconding the motion.

The motion was approved 4-0 with Commissioner Debbie Whitlock being absent.
