SCBC approve engagement letter for 2020 audit

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday for its regular scheduled meeting and work session.

During the meeting the board approved a motion authorizing Chairman Dennis Bell to sign the Fiscal Year 2020 Mauldin and Jenkins Engagement Letter for the 2020 audit.

County Administrator Phyllis Ayers explained that following the 2020 audit, the three-year agreement with Mauldin and Jenkins will expire.

Each year, the county enlists the expertise of an Auditing Firm to come in and audit the county financial statements to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, generally accepted government auditing standards, and federal and state regulations.

Commissioner Michelle Ivester made a motion authorizing the engagement letter with Commissioner Debbie Whitlock seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
