SCBC amends contract to increase Chamber of Commerce’s portion of hotel/motel tax revenue

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners amended a contract with the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce during its regular scheduled meeting last week.

The contract was for how hotel/motel tax revenue is distributed between the county and the Chamber of Commerce.

County Administrator Phyllis Ayers says over the years the county has gradually increased the percentage of hotel/motel tax revenue that the Chamber of Commerce gets and that this year the county has agreed to increase that percentage to 75 percent, leaving the county to retain 25 percent.

A motion approving the amended contract was made by Vice Chair Dennis Bell with Commissioner Dean Scarborough seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.
