SCBC adopt ordinance for roads and bridges right-of-way

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners held the second reading of its proposed ordinance regarding roads and bridges right-of-way and drainage system.

During the recent Commission meeting, Stephens County Attorney Brian Ranck opened the public hearing for the second reading of the ordinance.

He says the ordinance will address roads and drainage systems throughout the county.

At a previous meeting, County Administrator Phyllis Ayers explained that this ordinance would give county staff another tool for their toolbox to address issues with right-of-way.

During the public hearing, no residents came forward in favor or in opposition to the proposed ordinance.

A motion to adopt the proposed ordinance was made by Commissioner Dean Scarborough with Commissioner Michelle Ivester seconding the motion.

The motion was approved 4-1 with Vice Chair Debbie Whitlock voting against the motion.
