SCBC adopt continuing budget resolution for FY21

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners adopted a continuing budget resolution for the Fiscal Year 2021 Operating Budget during its meeting on Tuesday.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, the reason for the resolution to continue using the budget from Fiscal Year 2020 for Fiscal Year 2021 is due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

She says because of COVID-19 the county has been unable to meet for its typical budget meetings with department heads.

Ayers explains that later on in the Fiscal Year, the Commissioners will have a chance to meet with Department Heads and make necessary amendments to the budget.

Commissioner Dean Scarborough made a motion to adopt the continuing budget resolution with Vice Chair Debbie Whitlock seconding the motion.

The motion was approved unanimously.

Fiscal Year 2021 will begin on July 1, 2020.
