SCBC accepting applications for Chief Registrar

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will begin accepting applications for a full-time position as Chief Registrar.

The job advertisement was released following Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober’s recent resignation.

Gober cited health reasons as the cause of her departure.

Last week, the Stephens County Board of Commissioners met in executive session to accept Gober’s resignation.

Chairperson Michelle Ivester told WNEG News last week, that she and the board looks forward to working with the Registrar’s Office as they begin their search for a new Registrar.

According to the job advertisement for the position, the duties will include overseeing and managing the Elections Office as well as coordinate and complete the administrative tasks required to maintain the voter registration process and assist citizens with the election process.

Candidate must be able to recruit, train and manage temporary poll workers; prepare, update and administer policies and procedures for the office; manage projects and meet deadlines.

The minimum qualifications for the position include a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in a clerical or administrative position working with the public; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Candidates must have the ability to use computer software and email effectively.

Applications will be received at the Stephens County Courthouse Annex Building, located at 802 East Doyle Street, in Toccoa, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily through February 12, 2021, or emailed to [email protected].
