SC Hospital continues to experience growth in revenue, performance benchmarks.

During the July 24 meeting of the Hospital Authority Board, board member Stan Roberts presented the finance committee report, saying that June saw patient revenue increase to a level not experienced by the hospital in several years. He said that, although the hospital’s bottom line for June was slightly negative, the hospital’s finances are $3 million ahead of the same time last year.

Hospital CEO Van Loskoski presented several positive reports to the board, starting with comments on the hospital’s psychiatric services. Loskoski said there is a push to expand psychiatry outpatient services at the hospital, as well as investigation into a partnership with the Stephens County school system.

In looking at the hospital’s financial benchmarks for the month of June, Loskoski said that the $10.2 million in revenue includes $7.2 million from outpatient services – the most outpatient revenue ever generated at the hospital.

Loskoski updated board members on the continued success of the hospital’s stroke program, which is in its 6th month of partnership with Wellstar Health System.

Looking at stroke patient treatment data, Loskoski said several of the standard metrics used to evaluate stroke treatment in the industry show that Stephens County Hospital is now performing better than national averages.

In addition to the growth in revenue that continued in June, he said that the continued improvement in the surgery numbers show a success in the hospital’s continued efforts to better provide for the needs of the local community.

Loskoski ended his updates to the board by mentioning that the hospital had recently been awarded gold status in employee safety.
