SC Commissioners Approve Repairs to Dortch Road

At the most recent Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, commissioners unanimously approved moving forward with necessary repairs to Dortch Road, which suffered structural damage during the heavy rains of January and was closed to traffic due to the damage.

Commissioners also approved funding for the project from SPLOST dollars.

Stephens County Administrator Christian Hamilton told WNEG News about the needed repairs.

He said that, although the repairs would allow for the road to be reopened, the work would not guarantee that the road would not experience flooding in the future, since the roadway is in a floodplain

He also talked about the importance of SPLOST revenues to fund expenditures such as the Dortch Road work.

Dortch Road is expected to be open to traffic by the end of this month.
