SC Board of Commissioners select 2024 chair, vice chair, pass ordinance amendments

At last night’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, Board members unanimously voted Tara Simmons, Post 1, as the board chair for 2024, and Chris Rickman, Post 4, as vice chair for the coming year. 

Following the meeting, Rickman told WNEG News he is excited for the opportunity.

He added that serving as a board member has been a learning process

Simmons was not available for comment. 

Board members also voted to maintain the current schedule for board meetings in 2024, with meetings set for the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 6 p.m..

Also at Monday’s Stephens County Board of Commissioners meeting, board members passed amendments to the county’s Manufactured Homes and Travel Trailers Ordinance and the county’s Land Use Ordinance. WNEG News detailed the amendments in an article yesterday that is available on wnegradio.com.

On both amendments, Board member Debbie Whitlock was the sole dissenting vote.
