Salvation Army now taking donations for 2021 Angel Tree Program

By MJ Kneiser, WLHR

The Salvation Army in Toccoa has begun hanging their Angels on their annual Angel Trees and this year, there are a number of ways you can pick an angel to provide gifts for this Christmas.

Toccoa Service Center Director Rebecca Dixon says Salvation Army ANGELS are ready to be ‘adopted’ for this Christmas Season 2021.

Dixon said over 200 families signed up this year to receive Christmas gifts for their children, which she said represents almost 500 child angels in their Angel Tree Program this year ranging in ages from Newborn to 12 years old.

Half of those, Dixon said, are in Franklin County.  “Adopting” an angel from an Angel tree means that you will purchase items on a child’s wish list for the particular child you choose.

Each angel Ornament shows the angel’s name, age, clothes sizes, and wishes.

That could include items such as new clothes, shoes, socks, a jacket, and 1-3 Toys or items for an older child or teen from the Angel’s wish list.

According to Dixon, there are a number of ways to adopt an Angel. You can go to either the local Walmart stores beginning Monday or to the Beall’s stores in Toccoa or Cornelia, or you can go online to the Salvation Army of Northeast Georgia website or the Walmart.com website.

The deadline to submit gifts to the Toccoa Salvation Army Center is December 8th.

Dixon said this is an excellent ‘ hands-on’ experience for individuals and families, to share the excitement of shopping for a child who would otherwise not have much, if anything, for Christmas.

For Church or Civic Groups wanting to Adopt several Angels, you can Dixon at [email protected] or call her at 706-886-5293.

Again, the deadline for bringing gifts back so we can distribute the gifts is DECEMBER 8TH.
