Rumsey Tames Lions’ Bats; Indians Shut Out Franklin, 3-0

The Stephens County Indians ride the right arm of Evan Rumsey to a non-region baseball victory over Franklin County.

Rumsey threw a complete game two-hitter to lead the Indians over Franklin County 3-0 Friday night in Carnesville.

The junior right-hander struck out 10 and retired the last 17 Franklin County hitters he faced, throwing less than 80 pitches on the night.

Stephens County got all the offense it needed in the top of the fourth inning when Davis McCall walked and came around to score on a passed ball to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.

The Indians added two more runs in the top of the sixth when McCall walked and scored on an RBI single by Mason Long.

Long then scored on an RBI double by Ben Cleveland.

Aubrey Davis took the loss for Franklin County, allowing three runs and three hits in six innings. Trent Harris pitched the seventh inning for the Lions.

Davis and Jackson Meadors had the only hits for Franklin County as the Lions never got a runner to third base.

Stephens County moves to 5-2 with the win.

The loss drops Franklin County to 3-2, with both losses coming to Stephens County.

The Indians are back on the road Tuesday at Habersham Central.
