Ronald Charles Hiner

Ronald Charles Hiner, age of 84 of Martin, Georgia, passed away on July 24, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Ron, the child of the late Bill and Mary Hiner. was born in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and also lived in Clinton, Maryland and Venice, Florida prior to moving to Georgia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Alliance Church Toccoa on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 5:00 pm. Prior to the service, there will be visitation from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Ron, a graduate of Asbury College, was a former elementary physical education teacher and small business owner. He spent his entire adult life involved in church life and was an active member at First Alliance Church of Toccoa. He especially enjoyed his years singing in the church choir. Ron loved tending his honeybee hives, growing vegetables in his garden, sports, hunting, listening to Southern gospel music, camping, and caring for his family. All who knew him appreciated Ron’s down-to-earth, caring, generous, and genuine personality. Ron’s greatest life achievement was the way he spiritually led his wife and family to live their lives for Jesus, which has eternally impacted the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ron was a much beloved husband to his wife of 63 years, Nancy, father to R. Jeffery Hiner (Peggy), Cari Duttlinger (Ron), and Laurie Barnes (David). He also was a special grandpa to Lindsey, Katie, Greg, Kelsey, Megan, AJ, Cody, Kristi, Devin, Bryce, and Logan. He has 16 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his granddaughter Lindsey.

The Hiner family wish to express their deepest appreciation to their many family members, church members, and friends who have sent prayers, love, and meals for them as Ron’s health declined. A special note of thanks to our wonderful Amedysis Hospice team, who provided exceptional kindness, concern, and loving care that allowed the family to provide for Ron’s peaceful transition to heaven.
