Richard Michael Hardison

Richard Michael Hardison passed away in peace on Wednesday, November 8,2023 in his childhood hometown of Toccoa, Georgia surrounded by his loving daughters and family fur babies Dandy, Chuy, and Zara.

Mr. Hardison was born in Toccoa, Georgia December 5,1941 to the late Ethel Ruth “Boots” (nee Smith) and Harlan Lamar Hardison. He grew up in Toccoa, Georgia and attended North Georgia Military College for two years before attending University of Georgia and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He later went to University of Georgia to graduate with an MBA.

He met his beloved wife, Sara Kathryn Eyres in Heidelberg, Germany where he was stationed as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

He later enjoyed a lifelong 30-year career with the General Electric Company.

His career with General Electric took him and his family to many wonderful places such as Schenectady, NY, Anaheim, CA, Hendersonville, NC, San Francisco, CA, Marietta, GA, and Cincinnati, OH.

His adventurous spirit took him on many family camping trips that included crawfish catching and hiking with his daughters throughout Big Sur, California. He also enjoyed family trips to Kiawah Island, Sea Island, and St. Simons Island. He and his beloved wife Sara traveled to Europe, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Anyone who knew him will always remember the legendary dinner parties he and his beloved wife Sara hosted. If you were lucky enough to be invited to one of their dinner parties, you were guaranteed a wonderful evening. He loved Country music. Some of his favorite artists were George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard.

His survivors include his twin daughters, Heather Ann and Hillary Sue born in 1966. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara in 2011.

The family will have a private service at Stephens Memorial Gardens. The family will have a gathering in his honor at Currahee Club in Toccoa after the holidays.
