State Rep. Chris Erwin Appointed to House Committees

Newly elected 28th District State Representative Chris Erwin has been named to a number State House Committees.

Shortly after being sworn in last week, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Erwin to four committees including, the Education Committee, Insurance Committee, Intragovernmental Coordination Committee, and the State Planning & Community Affairs Committee.

“I was honored to put my hand on my Bible and take an oath to faithfully serve our District and the State of Georgia and protect and defend the Georgia and United States Constitutions,” said Rep. Erwin. “I am excited about the hard work we have ahead and look forward to making the citizens of the 28th District proud.”

Erwin narrowly won the 28th District seat away from incumbent Dan Gasaway by just two votes in a Special Primary Election last month.

That vote is being contested by former Representative Dan Gasaway who has filed a lawsuit claiming there were at least 14 incidents of illegal or fraudulent voting in the December 4th Special Primary.

A hearing is scheduled in Banks County Superior Court on January 28th.

This is the second hearing in what was a hotly contested race between Gasaway and Erwin.

Last September, Senior Superior Court Judge David Sweat ordered a re-do of the May Republican Primary after Gasaway’s attorneys were able to prove at least 70 Habersham County voters had been put in the wrong voting district.
