Registrar’s Office to begin counting absentee ballots on Monday

The Stephens County Elections and Registrar’s Office has announced that on Monday, June 8, at 2:00 p.m. staff will begin counting absentee ballots for the Presidential Preference Primary and Primary elections.

According to Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober, the count will take place on the second floor of the Stephens County Historic Courthouse.

She adds that the public is welcome to attend to observe the absentee ballot count.

Additionally, Gober reminds residents that early voting will end on Friday, June 5 at 5 p.m.

All early voting takes place on the second floor of the Stephens County Historic Courthouse from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

As of Tuesday evening, a total of 1,013 registered voters have cast early ballots.

If you would prefer to vote by absentee ballot the deadline to submit an application to receive an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Friday.

All absentee ballots are due back at the Registrar’s Office no later than 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9.

Gober adds that there is a Ballot Box located in front of the Government Building for Absentee Ballots to be dropped off at.

For election day voting, residents will cast ballots at the Stephens County Senior Center located on Rose Lane, in Toccoa.

The Presidential Preference Primary and Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 9.
