Recent shooting in Banks Co. leads to four arrests

In Banks County, four people are behind bars after a shooting last week in Commerce.

It happened Thursday in the area of Highway 59 and Barnes Circle, according to Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt. Carissa McFaddin.

McFaddin said deputies were called to the scene and quickly developed several persons of interest.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the shooting was the result of an argument.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A lookout was placed for the suspect who was later arrested in Anderson, SC.

He is identified as 26-year old Dextavious McCurry of Commerce.

McCurry is charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He will be extradited back to Banks County from South Carolina.

A day later, investigators made three more arrests in connection with the shooting.

They are identified as 35-year old Amanda Joy Hanley, of Commerce who is charged with obstruction of law enforcement officers.

35-year old Dujuan Montie Williams, also of Commerce was arrested Friday and charged with party to a crime of aggravated assault.

Additionally, 28-year old Marico Jamal Hollie, of Commerce was arrested and charged with party to a crime of aggravated assault.
