Rebels Take 3 of 4 from Elbert

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels 8th grade boys basketball team earned their 6th straight victory and remained unbeaten in 2019 with a 61-43 win at Elbert County on Thursday night.

Corey Richey led all scorers in the game with 24 points. The Rebels also received scoring from Ben Stowe and Evan Dumaine with 9 each, Cameron Lacey 8, Cornelius Curry 4, Chris Curry 3, and 2 each from AJ Russell and Aaron Scott. The SCMS 8th grade boys are now 10-2 on the season.

The SCMS 7th grade boys led by 10 at the half, 2 after 3 quarters and held on in the 4th for a 42-37 win over Elbert County. Javin Gordon led Stephens County with 14 points, Andrew Keown had 12, Devin Cobb 6, Etan Smith 3, 2 each from Glavin Frady and Cooper Dean, and Jasec Smith had 1. The Rebels 7th grade boys improve to 6-6 on the season.

The SCMS 7th grade girls picked up another win with a 22-17 victory over Elbert County. Carson Stowe led the Lady Rebels with 8 points, Dariyah Bell had 6, Tatianna Tukes 3, 2 each from Jaziyah Harbin and Aurora Elrod, and 1 from Fayeth Ivester. The SCMS 7th grade girls improve to 5-7 on the season.

The Elbert County 8th grade girls defeated SCMS 46-12. Makiya Knox led the Lady Rebels with 6 points, Kiara Lopez had 4, and 1 each from Myllazia Pope and Bre York. The SCMS 8th grade girls are now 2-10.

Stephens County Middle School will host Hart County today.
