Rebels Basketball Teams to Start Tourney Play

The Stephens County Middle School Rebel Basketball teams are ready for NEGIAA tournament action this week as they completed regular season play on Thursday.

The SCMS 8th grade teams enter tourney play on a high note with wins over Habersham County.

The 8th grade boys completed the regular season 11-3 and 9-3 in Region play with a 64-41 win. Evan Dumaine had a huge game with 35 points, Corey Richie added 13, Cameron Lacey 6, Navy Ott and Aaron Scott 3 each, and 2 each from Ben Stowe and Cornelius Curry.

The Rebels 8th grade boys will face Habersham County again in the first round of the tournament in Hart County on Tuesday night at 6:30 P.M..

The Lady Rebels 8th grade finished the season with back to back wins with a 30-20 win over Habersham. Makiya Knox led the Lady Rebels with 16 points, Kiara Lopez had 9, Constance Brown 3, and Myllazia Pope 2. The 8th grade Lady Rebels play Madison County today at 4:30 P.M. in the first round of the tournament in Hart County.

The Rebels 7th grade boys fell to Habersham in a close one 46-45. Daeshawn Wilson led SCMS with 15 points, Javin Gordon had 14, 4 each from Devin Cobb, Nuri Winters, and Aidan Butts, and 2 each from Cooper Dean and Andrew Keown. The Rebels 7th grade ends the regular season at 6-8 and will face Habersham again tonight in the first round of the tournament in Hart County at 5:30 P.M.

The Lady Rebels 7th grade girls fell to Habersham 27-14. Dariyah Bell led the Lady Rebels with 10 points, and Aurora Elrod and Carson Stowe had 2 points each.  The Lady Rebels will face Madison County tonight in the first round of the tournament in Hart County.
