Rebels Basketball Teams Split with Habersham

Stephens County Middle School’s boys basketball teams picked up big wins on Monday as they played host to Habersham County.

In the 7th grade boys game, the Rebels defeated Habersham 54-43. Javin Gordon led Stephens County with a game high 15 points, Glavin Frady had 11, Daeshawn Wilson and Nuri Winters scored 8 each, Devin Cobb had 6, and Brock Tankersly, Aidan Butts, and Cooper Dean had 2 points each.

The SCMS 7th grade boys are now 5-4 on the season.

The Rebels 8th grade boys basketball team added another victory running away from Habersham 54-29.
Corey Richey led the Rebels with 15 points, Cornelius Curry had 12, Aaron Scott 9, Evan Dumaine 6, and 2 points each from AJ Russell, Cameron Lacy, Ben Stowe, Rhett Tankersly, Chris Curry, and Anthony Harrison.

The SCMS 8th grade boys are now 7-2 this season.

Both SCMS girls teams came up on the short end in their games. The SCMS 8th grade girls lost in a tight game falling to Habersham 32-30 in overtime. The 8th grade Lady Rebels were led in scoring by Myllazia Pope with 10 points, Makiya Knox and Kiara Lopez had 8 each, and Constance Brown scored 2.

The SCMS 8th grade girls are now 1-8.

Habersham also took the 7th grade girls game. The SCMS 7th grade girls fall to 3-6 on the season.

All four teams returned to action yesterday when they played host to Rabun County. WNEG will provide those results tomorrow.
