Rebels Basketball Teams Finish Regular Season

The regular season came to an end Thursday for the Stephens County Middle School basketball teams and the NEGIAA conference tournament is next.

The Stephens County Middle School boys teams played at Rabun County Middle School.

The SCMS 7th grade boys finished the regular season with a record of 11-1. The Rebels 7th grade boys defeated Rabun County Middle School 52-20. Semaj Walker led the Rebels with a game high 17 points, Javin Gordon added 13, Brock Tankersley 9, Jonah Swinton, Andrew Keown and Tripp Underwood 3 each, and Davon Swinton and Keaton Maxwell 2 each. The 7th Grade Rebel boys are the #1 seed in the Tournament and will face the winner of Saturday’s Madison-Franklin game on Tuesday at 7 P.M. in the semi-finals in Danielsville.

The Rebels 8th grade boys fell in a close game 39-36. Aaron Scott led the Rebels in scoring with 13 points, Nuri Winters added 7, Jasec Smith 6, and Ethan Smith 5. The Rebels 8th grade boys finished the regular season with a record of 8-4 and as the #2 seed will face Elbert County Middle School on Thursday at 5:45 P.M. in Danielsville.

The Stephens County Middle School girls basketball teams played host to Rabun County Middle School on Thursday.

In the 8th grade game, Rabun County hit a shot at the buzzer for a 33-32 win. Kaitlyn Cangelosi led the Lady Rebels with 12 points, Dariyah Bell 9, Jaziya Harbin 5, Tytiunna Tukes 4, and Aurora Elrod 2. The 8th grade Lady Rebels finished the regular season at 5-7 and will now face Madison County Middle School in Danielsville Saturday at 12:30 P.M. in the tournament. The Lady Rebels 8th grade girls are the #4 seed.

The 7th grade Lady Rebels also lost a close game to Rabun 32-29. Carson Stowe led the Lady Rebels with 7 points, Lanesia Verdell and Savannah Smith scored 6 each, Fayeth Ivester 4, and Kylie Glaze and Maddie McGee 2 points each. The 7th grade Lady Rebels finished the regular season at 3-9 and as the #6 seed will now face Hart County Middle School Monday at 4:30 P.M. at the tournament in Danielsville.
