Rebels 8th Grade Boys Win, Girls Season Ends

The Stephens County Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team has advanced to the next round of the NEGIAA tournament with a 42-35 win over Habersham County on Wednesday night in Hartwell.

Evan Dumaine led the Rebels in scoring with 12 points, Cornelius Curry added 10, Ben Stowe 8, and 4 each from Cameron Lacey, Corey Richey, and Aaron Scott.

The Rebels improve to 12-3 and will now face Franklin County this evening at 5:30 P.M. at Hart County High School.

The SCMS 8th grade Lady Rebels season came to an end Wednesday evening losing a tight contest with Madison County 31-28 in the 1st round of the NEGIAA tournament in Hartwell.

Constance Brown led the Lady Rebels with 10 points, Makiya Knox had 9, Myllazia Pope 5, and 2 each from Kiara Lopez and My’Angel Carter.

The 8th grade Lady Rebels, coached by Jeremy Stowe, showed much improvement throughout the season and finished the year at 4-11.
